Binary: A selection or work by First Year students (2013)

First fear students were invited to work with the iconic high street brand, Warehouse. The Senior Jersey designer from the brand introduced four trends – Flounce, NYC Grunge, Masai & Binary – and the assignment was to build an individual but appropriate concept to design a range of garments based on the trends. Students were first asked to produce a retail report to demonstrate their understanding of the Warehouse customer and their main competitors. With this information, they could then tailor make their designs to fit to the trend and customer. During ‘design selection’, a final outfit was chosen to be made with attention given to  appropriate fabric and finish for this particular market level.  A final presentation with key pieces for each trend was displayed and a selection of garments were showcased at the end of year fashion show.
