‘The Secret Garden’ by Frances Hodgson Burnett was the focal point for this collection. From reading the novel, several elements shaped the inspiration, resulting in beautiful hand-drawn prints mixed with sophisticated, soft silhouettes. The collection focuses on the idea of allowing oneself to blossom through colour and fabrics. The use of colour reflects the happiness felt by the children within the story when they grow as people, as well as the growth of the garden and the fabrics Wool, sateen, single silk georgette and cotton sateen make up the fabrics used, which evolved from referencing the garden and the flowers within it.
