On the 8th May 2013, 3rd year Fashion Design students showed their final collections alongside Fashion Atelier and Fashion Textiles: Print students at Christ Church Spitalfields in East London. During the 3 shows that took place over the course of a day, over a hundred students across the three courses took the opportunity to showcase their graduate collections to family, friends and the industry and to persuade the show judges to give them a space in the Graduate Fashion Week Rochester show.
As a collaborative effort, the internal show is an annual event organized by staff and students. Year 1 students took turns to help backstage to dress the models, whilst a selection of year 2 fashion design student took charge of managing the backstage dressers. The overall show styling was led by Amy Warner, 3rd year Fashion Promotion student whilst Chantelle Matthias and her team from Justso created the hair direction and Jess Warner directed the make up team.
Judges for this years show were Thomass Atkinson (Head of School of Fashion), Carolyn Massey (Head of Design at Lyle & Scott) and Sorcha O’Raghallaigh (Fashion Designer). The Judged selected 23 graduates to go forward to the Graduate Fashion Week show due to take place in London’s Earls Court in June 3rd.
